My study of the human body began with my undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada receiving an honors degree in Health Sciences. I then pursued both a Doctorate in Chiropractic and a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine simultaneously. Upon graduation in December of 2006 I began my career under the tutelage of Dr. Thawer at Be Well. In an environment highly spirited with teamwork, dedication and excellence, a special relationship of coherence & cooperation developed amongst our doctors. This relationship has resulted in a diverse mastermind of knowledge, skill and expertise tremendously benefiting our patients, and empowering us further as doctors. My commitment is to stand strong in the possibility of vibrant health for ALL, with love, enthusiasm & integrity.
Observance of the body's majestic ability to heal is nothing short of a breathtaking inspiration when causative factors of imbalance are removed. If any disease or illness manifests in the body, there is always toxicity or deficiency that lies at the source of the problem.
Studying Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Western Medicine, Energetic Medicine & Chiropractic has been a tremendous gift as it empowers me to gather & integrate information across different disciplines. My approach is centered on analyzing the body as a whole. One method through Oriental Medicine assesses a patient's inherent constitution, helping identify their 'weakest link' in healing. I gather information about pain, food and taste, stools and urine, thirst and drink, energy levels, sleep patterns, emotional symptoms, and much more. A detailed history combined with tongue & pulse analysis, 5 element and 8 principle theory, and palpation yields an incredible assessment of the person's overall state of health.
I am also passionate about the healing power of Chinese herbs and custom herbal formulas. When used accurately, these formulas work like magic to quickly quench the most urgent needs of the body. I consider it a great privilege to be able to use this wisdom of Oriental Medicine that dates back thousands of years.
As a Doctor of Chiropractic, I also utilize orthopedic, neurological and physical exam evaluations to add to my clinical picture. Re-establishing structural integrity and balancing the nervous system is the foundational step in helping my patients get well. To do this I use a combination of technique systems including Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), Activator and Total Body Modification (TBM).
As nutrition is paramount to being healthy, I employ the use of blood, hair and urine analysis to gain an objective assessment of the body's state of health. Imbalances are clearly identified, and ideal dosages of specific nutrients are determined through the use of Quantum Reflex Analysis (QRA). By using this integration of methods, I get to see a harmonic integration of energy and matter documented though blood analysis.
My goals are not only centered around helping patients feel & BE better symptomatically, but to also restore balance for the long haul through changes in diet, exercise and lifestyle.
I look forward to seeing you soon and helping to guide you on your path to Be Well!
Yours in health,
Dr. Shilpa Agrawal, DC, MSOM, LAc.
